Upcoming troll puzzle-platformer and Patreon

Posted by jacklehamster - 6 days ago

Hello all,

I hope you're having a good week.

A puzzle platformer about to be released for Newgrounds

I wanted to share some update. There's an upcoming game I've been working on, and would like to share some progress.

I just had NotebookLM AI generate a video discussing about the game.

Note, the game is all handcrafted, not AI generated (except for NPC dialog).

That said, the video shows pretty accurately what you might find in the game:

The bots seem to be pretty excited about the game, even though I only fed them my source code and readme 😛

Does this game sound too good to be true? Their description is actually pretty accurate! (for the most part).

The game is pretty close to done, but there are still pending questions. Please share your thoughts in the comments:

  • How extensive should the level editor be?
  • How should I monetize? Full version on Steam vs demo version on web?
  • Should I just release the entire game for free and try to monetize via Patreon?
  • I really want to add more cutscenes, but how can I introduce those without distracting from the game.

Talking about Patreon

I'm trying to setup a new Patreon page:

https://patreon.com/dobuki

I don't really know how to set that up, but I'm learning.

  • What would you except to see on a Patreon page? (free vs paid members)
  • What would make you want to get if you were to pay for a subscription on Patreon?
  • Are there other way to monetize games while releasing them for free on the web?
  • Any suggestion on how to make my Patreon page look good? (I know it looks like crap right now, I just started. But if you had some examples of good Patreon page, I'd greatly appreciate)

Please share your thoughts!

Ciao, and have a good weekend!

😉
